Currently, the MPA Bookroom is closed until the end of the spring 2020 semester. An update will be posted when the bookroom hours are available on this website and the MPA student email list. If you have a textbook/equipment hold, please email mpatextbooks@jjay.cuny.edu , using your JJC email. Make sure to include your EMPLID and program modality (MPA-PPA Campus, MPA-PPA Online, MPA-IO Campus, MPA-IO Online, or MPA Non-Degree). Appointments to request or return textbooks can be requested via this email. MPA students in the MPA-PPA Online or MPA-IO Online programs, who do not live in NYC (five Boroughs), have the option of getting their textbooks mailed to them. If you currently have outstanding textbooks from prior semesters, a CUNYFirst hold will be placed on your account. This hold will prevent you from registering for a class, making an appointment to pick up textbooks, accessing transcripts, and receiving your diploma. There is no need to Register for the workshops ahead of time; just show up. CAPSTONE Preparation Workshop: Date: January 9 th . Thursday Room: NB 1.100 Time: 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Description: Get a head start on your Capstone project by attending this orientation to the course. This workshop is recommended for students taking the Capstone in the next academic year. Instructor : Dr. Ned Benton MPAQE Preparation Workshops: Description: The MPAQE Workshops will explain the grading instrument, allow students to assess previous exams and scores, and prepare them for the exam. These workshops are for students who have failed the MPAQE when taken in PAD 700, and also for students who need to take the exam for the first time. At the end of these workshops, the MPAQE will be administered, so there will be an opportunity to pass the test. It is beneficial for students to attend all four of these intensive MPAQE writing workshops. Attending these workshops will definitely prepare you better to pass the MPAQE. Advanced technologies such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and big data are changing the policymaking landscape by promoting better-informed decision-making. Computer simulation models are one of the new technologies that are available for decision-makers in the public and non-profit sectors. In this workshop, students will learn the on-going changes in public policy decision-making and gain a basic understanding of how computer simulation models can help decision-makers in the public and non-profit sectors solve “wicked” problems in diverse policy domains, from disaster management to public health, to global warming. The showcase of simulation-based decision making will also take place during the workshop. There are some myths floating around about what the 150-Semester Hour Pathway to becoming a CPA is. What students will learn in this workshop: Demystifying the 150-hour rule Planning your education to prepare for the future of work while meeting educational requirements to become a CPA Funding your way to become a CPA This workshop will be interactive. Students will be given a few scenarios similar to actual students in the Fraud Examination and Financial Forensics program (FEFF) and be guided to come up with a plan to make the student meet the requirements.
